Upper Marlboro, MD (13 January 1992) -- InternetiX, Inc. announced today a new version of its LANSlM-LANAI Performance Toolset for the Novell LANalyzer. The new Toolset will allow LANalyzer and LANSIM users to base their network design and capacity planning simulations on real network traffic captured by the LANalyzer. LANSIM is a detailed, event-stepped simulator of the dynamic response and performance of a LAN under traffic loads, and is a powerful tool for the planning and design of Local Area Networks. LANAI is an interface tool which extracts activity workloads from analyzer capture files for modeling of network traffic in LANSIM. InternetiX will be demonstrating the LANSIM-LANAI Toolset at ComNet, January 28-30, 1992 in Washington, DC. The Toolset is expected to ship in February, 1992. According to lnternetiX President, Andrew Jazwinski, "People have been calling their LAN analyzer manufacturers asking for an interface to LANSIM. To meet this need we have published a LANAI Portability Kit which we are making available to analyzer manufacturers under cooperative development agreements. Because of LANalyzer's leadership position in the market, its intelligent system capabilities and ease of use, and requests from our LANSIM users, we decided to develop the LANalyzer interface at this time." "Network managers want to be able to simulate their installed LAN as a baseline, before using LANSIM for capacity planning work," said Jazwinski. "They want to validate "What Is" before using LANSIM to simulate various "What If?" scenarios. And to do that, they have to faithfully model the various traffic activities on their network. LANAI allows them to do that. The Novell LANalyzer, together with the LANSIM-LANAI Toolset now permits LAN planners and managers to base growth planning simulations on real traffic projections from their installed LANs." "We support InternetiX's efforts in the LANAI development in response to requests from a number of our users," said Duane Murray, Vice President and General Manager of Novell's Network Management Products Division. "The LANSIM-LANAI Toolset for LANalyzer expands LANalyzer's ability as a network planning system." The February release of the LANSIM-LANAI Toolset also includes support for the Network General Sniffer analyzer and the SpiderAnalyzer. In addition, Wandel & Goltermann is planning to develop a LANAI interface to its DA-30 Analyzer, and Intel's new analyzer will support the LANAI data formats. InternetiX, Inc. is a developer and supplier of system engineering and information resource management tools for government and industry.
